on board training provide driving instructor (ADI) training courses and driving instructor franchise opportunities and self employed positions in Lanarkshire, Glasgow and Scotland. We can also provide ADI part 2 and part 3 training as top-up training for you if you are not progressing with the ADI training you have with another driving instructor college.

As it sounds – pay for your training as you train, per hour, at your own pace, no lump sum involved.

The DSA ADI Qualifying Process

There are three tests you need to sit in order to qualify as an Approved Driving Instructor and each test must be passed before the next one can be taken.

Part One

This is a computerised test of your knowledge. It consists of a multiple choice theory test and hazard perception test.

Part Two

This is a test of your own driving ability and the test will last for around an hour during which time the examiner will expect you to drive on a variety of different roads and demonstrate a high standard of driving.

Part Three

This is a test of your instructional ability and will also last for around an hour. The examiner will expect you to instruct him as he role plays a driver who may be a learner driver or a full licence holder at different stages of driver training.

Here at On Board Training we are aware of your individual training requirements & believe in providing the best possible tuition to enable you to pass the tests and reach the standards required to become a DSA Approved Driving Instructor. We believe we are offering the best combination of study material and practical training possible to maximise your chance of effortless qualification. Our instructor training courses have achieved a first class pass rate, and to date anyone who has trained with us either partly or from start to finish, followed the course guidelines and taken our trainers advice has qualified. Some clients have come from other training establishments to finish their courses after disappointment in finding most of their training was shared or done in a classroom environment.

We guarantee all of your Part 2 and Part 3 training will be in-car and one to one.* To become a DSA Approved Driving Instructor there are certain legal requirements you must meet. You must be at least 21 years old. You must have held a full driving licence for a minimum 3.5 years and not been banned at any time in the last 4 out of 6 years. You should be able to read a number plate from a distance of 27.5 metres (90ft) and be able to provide two references. You also need to have a free fully enhanced disclosure (criminal record check) done to determine that you are a “fit and proper person” to become a driving instructor.
